May Highlights at North Star Academy

Have you heard of the Medgar Evers Educational Talent Search Program?
Under the auspices of the School of Professional and Community Development, the program identifies low-income and disadvantaged students and provides them with the academic, career, and financial counseling needed to graduate from high school and continue on to college. Find more information here in our Parent Resource page, whether you're a student from grades 6-12, or you're seeking employment in this program.

Education and Work Consortium’s Welfare to Careers Project provides low-income parents with education leading to a Bachelor's degree along with career training and supportive services, to help them attain a fulfilling and economically sustainable career.

The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides New York City youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with summer employment and educational opportunities. See this link for the SYEP fact sheet.  Participants work in a variety of entry-level jobs at government agencies, hospitals, summer camps, nonprofits, small businesses, law firms, museums, sports enterprises, and retail organizations. You can apply here online. Please see the Parent Resources link to the left for more information.
